Inovative Orthodontics in San Diego
At Torrey Pines Orthodontics, one of our goals is to get an early start on treatment so that problems that may be minimal now do not have the opportunity to become major problems later on. Interceptive orthodontics is the method that is based on that premise.
It wasn’t that long ago that the standard for beginning orthodontic care was around adolescence. But advancements and research in the field led to an understanding that by moving that age up to 7, it is entirely possible to address difficulties with teeth alignment and the symptoms associated with it in a way that creates the least amount of inconvenience and time-consumption for both your child and for you. In fact, some kids will find that there is no need for any additional help from our orthodontics in San Diego in their teen years. Others will need simpler and less expensive work at that point. If you detect any of the following signs, be sure to seek an evaluation promptly: breathing through the mouth, chewing difficulties, sucking of the thumb or fingers, crowding of teeth, misplaced teeth, early loss of baby teeth or conversely, baby teeth that stay in past their normal schedule of falling out. There are other indications, among which are teeth that are blocked out, jaws and teeth being out of proportion with the rest of your child’s face, shifting jaw, and sounds made when the jaw moves. You may also elect to bring your child in for an examination and assessment even if he or she has not yet exhibited any obvious symptoms. We encourage that. Some issues can be detected by our orthodontics in San Diego even if they are not noticeable to you or your child.
